History and Values
Torsten Ecks stands for professional maritime consulting with a focus on sales and commercial representation. My long-standing industry experience, combined with in-depth sector knowledge and a strong customer-oriented approach, forms the foundation of my work. I foster sustainable partnerships and reliably support maritime companies in market entry and project implementation. As the son and grandson of seafarers, I feel a deep personal connection to the shipping industry and its values. It was only natural that I would follow in the footsteps of my ancestors. After an internship with Hapag-Lloyd, during my time at High School, I became a Shipping Merchant.

Deep understanding of the shipping industry
After my apprenticeship as a shipping merchant and having received the Commercial Clerk’s Certificate, I spent a few years with shipbrokers, liner agents and shipping companies, before I deviated into maritime software. I established the first german office for a norwegian maritime software provider and built it over over 7 years. This was a pioneer job and when I left the company, it had become one of the most successful maritime software companies in the world. The most important thing about that time was that the software covered ALL areas of modern ship operation, which gave me a holistic view into the challenges of our customers. I should benefit from that until today.

Consistency and Transformation
After an unexpected break with a Chinese service provider with own vessels, for whom I bult up the European HQ, I started my own consultancy firm ECKS MARINE. The service offering was to repeat what I did for the maritime software company before: gain trust, win customers, sell products, establish long term relationships. Over time ECKS MARINE represented companies from all over the world, promoting and selling their products and services.
Testing, verification, software, consumables, spare parts, ROVs, VDRs, Performance Optimization, you name it.
When COVID hit the world in 2019, I started to work in the so-called digital supply chain, where I could combine my knowledge of maritime structures with my high standards of diligence and consistency.
When these projects were done, I came back to the ship operating side of shipping and guess what: my network was still there and generally things haven't changed - but became even more complex.
